CYTED

IBERO-AMERICAN PROGRAM OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT

CYTED: A COMMON COMMITMENT AND A COMBINED RESPONSIBILITY

The CYTED Program has been characterized, since its creation, for its flexibility and capacity of incorporating novelties, as long as in its management mechanisms, like in the cooperation modalities, what has allowed it to make comfortable quickly to the changes that are taking place in the environment of the international scientific cooperation.

The consolidation of the Program has been based on one hand, in the progressive political support that they have manifested the 21 participant countries and that it has culminated with the formal incorporation from the CYTED to the programs of cooperation of the Ibero-American Summits of Chief of State and of Government.

This political support has been reflected in the growing commitment of the Signatory Organisms in the administration of the Program, in the continuous evaluation of the same one and its consideration like a strategic instrument of the international cooperation, as well as in the cofinancing participation.

On the other hand, the continuous self regard processes and of external evaluation of the CYTED Program, they have allowed to go designing new cooperation modalities and deepening in the organizational outlines characterized by their flexible and participative character, what has generated a great acceptance of CYTED like a cooperation instrument among the Ibero-American scientific and technological communities that feel to the Program like an own instrument and no as an instrument of the external cooperation.

This combination of the political commitment and of the commitment of the scientific communities have facilitated an unprecedented development of CYTED and the obtaining of countless tangible and intangible results with the result of a broadly international widespread recognition that is allowing it to have an active paper and in some cases of leadership in the forums of the international cooperation.

CYTED is a Program that it belongs to all the Ibero-American Countries and its future is a common commitment and a combined responsibility

WHAT IS THE CYTED PROGRAM ?

The Ibero-American countries finance the research and technological development activities for participants groups; the Spanish economic contribution is applied to coordination expenses and other activities that make possible the cooperation and the interaction

"Definition and Administration of the Thematic Nets"

  1. The thematic CYTED Networks are associations of Research Units of public or private Organisms of the countries members of the Program whose scientific interests and activities keep relationship with the topic selected for the Network.
  2. The objectives of the Thematic Networks are to propitiate among the associate Units:
The stable and continuous scientific interactions
The exchanges of scientific and technique information of mutual interest
The sinergic enhancement and the coordination of their lines of R+D.
The exchanges of research and personnel's mobility
    The formation of human resources
    The technical and methodological training
The design and elaboration of proposals of projects of competitiveness research and innovation projects
The actions of technological transfer that are technical, economic and commercially viable.
  3. The maintenance and consolidation of the Thematic Networks requires:
The active participation of all the associate Units
The perception of the existence of a common benefit and of an improvement of the competitiveness of each one of the associate Units.
  4. The activities (of the Network) they will be able to include:
    The exchange and researchers' mobility
    Formation of human resources
Specialized courses of character practice on methodologies and technical
Shops among scientific and technological topics of interest
The exchange and diffusion of information, data and experience

Sub-Programa IX: Microeletronica

CYTED

Name of the Network IX.E:
Studies, production and characterization of nanostrutures for Micro and Optoeletronics

Organizer of the Network: Dr. Joaquin Tutor-Sanchez

Research area
Nanoelectronic devices, its properties, structures, models and applications.

Strategic Interest and scientific and technological relevance

This network is important and necessary for the development of the research activities and development in the microeletronic and optoelectronic areas. It congregates groups dedicated to a point area, that can provide innovations of industrial importance in close future and specific applications in short period. Those areas still open new alternatives for not yet established technologies in the form of industrial paradigms, which offer opportunities for competitive performance in the technologie of the information.

The Network intends to establish relationships and to create sinergias among ibero-american groups that make possible the necessary actions for the accomplishment of research works and development in Nanostructures.

Those Nanostructures understand quantum wells, superlattices, quantum wires and quantum dots of composed semiconductors III-V, II-VI and IV. Its applications extend to light sensors, solar cells and other innovative devices that use the specific properties of those Nanostructures.

The themes of research:

The conception of new Nanostructures and applications, production processes and characterization of materials, structures, devices and its associations; rising of the capacities and competences already installed in the area, with the involvement of groups not included in this information; preparation of a monograph on the state of the art of the theme, indicating strategic guidelines for its development in the area, identifying applications of socioeconomic interest, particularly in what it refers to the other Sub-programs of CYTED; workshops accomplishment and meetings of groups, to organize introductory and advanced courses, seeking the development of emergent groups and the enhancement of teaching entities and its researches recently arrived to the theme; rising of the potentialities of application of the results in the industrial atmosphere, be through licensed patents starting from knowledge generated by the involved groups, it wants through partnerships.
